Layer 2 Plus Ethernet Switches

Performance and Scalability
The OctoGate SW-3002 series switches are high-performance Gigabit Ethernet Layer 2+ (Layer 3 Lite) managed devices with maximum data transfer rates on all Gigabit ports. The integrated SFP and SFP+ ports offer uplink flexibility and allow the insertion of fiber, copper, Gigabit, or 10G transceivers to create high-speed uplinks of up to 10G, thereby preventing data congestion and boosting the performance of the access network.

Multicast Control
IGMP snooping improves network performance by preventing the flooding of multicast traffic. Switch ports are dynamically configured so that multicast traffic is forwarded only to the ports associated with an IP multicast receiver.

Excellent Management
The command-line interface (CLI) can be accessed via the console port or Telnet. Thanks to the intuitive user interface, the switches can be configured and managed quickly and easily.

Continuous availability
To ensure rapid recovery after a connection failure, the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (IEEE 802.1w) provides a loop-free network and redundant links to the core network with fast network convergence.

This improves overall network stability and reliability.
The Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (IEEE 802.1s) runs STP on a per-VLAN basis and provides Layer 2 load balancing across redundant links with up to 64 instances.

Comprehensive IPv6 Solutions
Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) is a standardized method for transmitting data. To meet the requirements for managing IPv6 network devices, the switches support the IPv6 protocol suite, the Neighbor Discovery Protocol, and the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMPv6), as well as IPv6-based ping, traceroute, Telnet, and SSH applications.

Quality of Service (QoS)
To better manage network services, OctoGate switches support priority tagging, which identifies traffic with higher QoS requirements. Traffic classification is based on VLAN, MAC, source addresses, destination addresses, and IP. For bandwidth control, flexible policies are provided to individually set the traffic, maximum data rate, and throughput limit for each port. For scheduling and queue management, various scheduling algorithms are supported, such as SP (Strict Priority), WRR (Weighted Round-Robin Scheduling), and SP+ WRR.

Layer 3 Ethernet Switches

Data Center
The OctoGate SW-4003 series switches support key data center functions such as Priority Flow Control (PFC), Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN), TCP, and many more. To improve the reliability of network connections, MLAG (Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation) is used to create an active/active cluster to aggregate connections between different devices. Overlay technology enables the creation of Layer 2 packets within Layer 3 networks by using the NVGRE/VXLAN/GENEVE header to encapsulate the entire Ethernet packet. This resolves the issue of MAC table size limitations in traditional Layer 2 networks. The overlay also resolves the limitation on the number of VLAN IDs and the issue of network dynamic adaptation, which cannot be achieved through VLAN/VPN.

High Reliability
The switches feature hot-swappable power modules with 1+1 redundancy and 2+1 redundant fans. Real-time environmental monitoring—which tracks chipset temperature, fan status, and power supply—ensures a high level of reliability. To ensure that network traffic is fully protected, the devices support a wide range of network technologies: LACP, ECMP, VRRP, VARP, STP, RSTP, MSTP, Smart Link, BFD, ERPS, G.8031, G.8032, load balancing, etc. The patented Sysmon technology monitors CPU status. The technology logs all system activity and detects malware and attacks.

Excellent QoS Control
For improved bandwidth allocation, 13 hardware queues are available per port (8 unicast, 4 multicast, and 1 monitor). Data traffic is prioritized using multi-level scheduling technologies such as WDRR (Weighted Deficit Round Robin), SP (Strict Priority), and TD (Taildrop) / WRED (Weighted Random Early Detection), data traffic is prioritized. Control of ingress and egress traffic ensures intelligent bandwidth monitoring. To limit bandwidth and packet sizes, the switches support srTCM (Single Rate Three Color Marker) and trTCM (Two Rate Three Color Marker).

Comprehensive Network Security Policy
The system supports the Internet protocols IPv4, IPv6, and MAC-ACL, each of which can filter IPv4, IPv6, and non-IP packets. An advanced IPv4/IPv6 ACL is also available, which matches Layer 2, Layer 3, and Layer 4 information. ACLs can be applied to physical ports, VLAN ports, port groups, and VLAN groups. ARP attacks and hacking attempts are prevented by dynamic ARP inspection and the IP Source Guard feature, and the centralized 802.1x authentication feature protects the network from unauthorized access. CPU traffic is also continuously monitored, which optimizes CPU utilization.

High Reliability
The OctoGate Switch SW-5003 offers high uptime thanks to the HPS (Hitless Protection System). Effective protection mechanisms such as STP, RSTP, MSTP, VRRP, ring network protection, Dual Uplink Active, Standby Link Protection, and LACP Link Aggregation ensure reliability and secure data management. ISSU (In-Service Software Upgrade) is supported so that the device can receive updates even while in operation. This technology guarantees uninterrupted forwarding of user data while the system is being updated, and thanks to the DFB (Bidirectional Forwarding Detection) network protocol, error detection is achieved in a matter of seconds, thereby minimizing convergence time during network disruptions. Ethernet OAM standards 802.3ah, 802.1ag, and ITU-T 1731 enable rapid detection and localization of network malfunctions. The MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) of this switch is 50 ms.

Comprehensive Service
To find the best possible paths between networks, the system supports Layer 2 and Layer 3 multicast routing protocols as well as Layer 3 routing protocols. This results in a large routing table capacity, enabling large data center networks, campus networks, enterprise networks, and industrial networks.

Innovative Eco-Design
The switch features an advanced power management system with efficient power switching, soft starts, real-time monitoring, intelligent adjustment, and energy-saving capabilities. To reduce unnecessary power consumption and energy costs, the switch can lower its power consumption during periods of low activity. This meets the international Energy Efficient Ethernet standard (IEEE 802.3az) for energy savings.

Data Center Services
With BVSS technology, multiple physical devices can be logically grouped together and virtualized. This increases the reliability, flexibility, and manageability of the virtual devices compared to their physical counterparts. Connections are optimized, STP-induced blockages are bypassed, Layer 3 routing is no longer interrupted, and single points of failure are avoided. The distance for such virtual cluster systems can be extended to 80 km, thereby eliminating the geographical limitations of conventional cluster technology. This enables the unified management of individual IP addresses and simplifies the management of network devices and network topology. VRF allows for the operation of multiple virtual routers, which can be used to isolate individual networks from one another without the need for additional switches. This ensures traffic isolation and network segmentation across multiple devices.
